How does a reversing contactor work?

DC reversing contactor is used to control the forward and reverse rotation of the motor.It is widely used for winches and direction controllers.When the current enters the electromagnet from the power supply, the contacts are closed, and the current path is formed, so that the motor can operate normally. In the reversing state, the current direction is opposite, the magnetic field of the electromagnet is also opposite, the contacts will open, disconnect the motor from the power supply, and reverse the motor.

Reversing vs Non-Reversing Contactor

Basically, DC reversing contactor is used for the forward and reverse rotation of the DC motor. A non-reversing contactor only turns the motor on and off.

Non-reversing DC contactor is a SPST relay that closes the circuit when the coil is energized. It is only used for current in one direction when it is in contact. A reversing DC contactor contacts current flowing in both directions when the coil is energized. These contactors are completely different from each other.
